So, to blog about something that isn’t my deteriorating mental health: cosplay!
I didn’t think I was even going to start my Alice: Madness Returns cosplay this year… but as it is, it might even be finished before my Melkor/Morgoth costume! I was scouring my favorite thrift-store, when I came across a horrible wedding dress. Old fashioned cut, long sleeves, high collar, just one layer of relatively cheap fabric… the kind of dress that wouldn’t do a bad job in a kindergarten costume closet. But I looked at it, and I saw the makings of a dress for Hysteria Alice.
For those of you who don’t know anything of “American McGee’s Alice” and its sequel “Alice: Madness Returns”… this is the Hysteria costume.
I’m far from done, but I managed to roughly convert the previously described ugly wedding dress into something remotely resembling the basic Hysteria dress. See the transformation for yourself:
The costume is far from finished (the apron, the skull bow, the petticoat, and the bloodstains still need to be added to the dress, not to mention that I still have some work on the sleeves) but I thought my progress was noteworthy enough to post about. I did everything by hand, and I’m not the best seamstress, but it came out better than I expected…
Super cute! Nice work! I can’t wait to see the finished product. 😀
Also, you’ve just been nominated for the Liebster Award. Check it out: http://asylumattendant.wordpress.com/2014/06/09/liebster-award/
