I love surreal things, the stranger the better, and the work of Ukrainian jewelry artist Valeria Myrusso is exactly up my alley. Her polymer clay jewelry is twisted and sometimes a bit disturbing… but always very beautiful. Inspired by fairy tales, myths, and legends, the jewelry manages a wink to both the Art Nouveau movement and the work of HR Giger… I would feature her entire gallery if I could, but given the limits of this blog I picked a couple of my favorites to show here. Can you tell I had a hard time picking them?
Find plenty more amazingness here: http://valeria-myrusso.com/
Some of the pieces are very Giger-esque (my favorite artist). Others are a little like Sorayama’s robotic women work. Very cool.
I agree about Giger (love his work), and I did not know the second artist so thank you for pointing his work out to me! It made me think a lot about the “Cyberwoman” episode on Torchwood….
We don’t have Torchwood over here, but I googled some of the images from the.episode – very much along the lines of Sorayama’s work.
The series is really worth checking out if you have the time 😉
