“Each moment which we live suddenly turns into history”. (Jana Machatova)
Jana Machatova is a contemporary jewelry artist from Slovakia. I’ll be honest here: I don’t like all her work. Some of it is rather political, and much of it just doesn’t tickle my esthetic fancy. But, there are pieces in her gallery that really struck me, and when that happens I just have to post about it. It concerns a set of brooches… The photographs on the gold background made me think of byzantine icons a bit, and the strange setups with seemingly disembodied hands and heads make for a very mystical atmosphere. Also, they are eye-catching and beautiful; what more do you need?
