I made mention of my crafts before, and here they are! These cost me lots of time, painful fingers (because I have no wire pliers), and many expletives, but I think the results aren’t that awful… For those of you who haven’t read the Silmarillion, or any of Tolkien’s works, the references below probably won’t make sense… but you can still enjoy the craftiness, right?
The “Two Trees” Pendant:
My favorite piece, a rendering of the Two Trees of Valinor before Ungoliantë and Melkor got their hands on them. The gold thread isn’t this yellow in real life, it’s just bad lighting and a bad camera…
The “Star of Fëanor” Pendant:
This started out as me making a Christmas ornament with some leftover wire and pearls, and then suddenly it was a Star of Fëanor. It was made without a frame and without a well-thought-out plan, and as such it’s a bit lopsided. I think it’s still pretty though! (The pictures really don’t do it justice, I will have to post pics taken with my good camera once…)
A Heraldry-Inspired Pendant:
This one was inspired by the heraldic device on the right, which depicts the making of the Silmarils. I was low on inspiration for my crafts, and then I scrolled through a load of heraldic devices that Tolkien made for many important people in his legendarium. I came across this one, and voila!
I might make more of these, some day, when inspiration hits me… Tell me what you think?
I like them all, but my fav is the last one.
Thanks! 😀
Very nice.
Thanks 🙂
