The Golden Globes: Best/Worst according to QP

Yes, I actually wasted a couple of hours of my life watching E! to see the dressing disasters that would walk the red carpet. Yes indeed. I was surprised to see so many dresses I actually really liked, among the atrocities… Therefor, a Best/Worst of celebrity dresses! (I have my moments of superficiality. Don’t we all?)

The Best According To QP

GlobesBest

See what I loved? Mermaid tail dresses. Taylor Swift, Megan Fox, Nicole Kidman, Francesca Eastwood and Melissa Rauch… Verrry sultry.

Also, Julianna Margulies (second top) stunned me with her sheer asian themed dress… Those elements are like a promise of disaster, and yet I LOVED it.

As always I adored Helena Bonham Carter’s outfit; she does quirky the right way…

Katharine McPhee’s dress (third down) is asking for a nip slip, but it’s so pretty she’s forgiven.

And Anne Hathaway’s on here because she looked really cute.

The Worst According To QP

GlobesWorstAs always, my hate-list is a lot longer than my like-list.

Crazy, childish patterns in pastel tones? NO. Ariel Winter, Sienna Miller, you are hereby found guilty!

Still on the Pattern Front: Why Halle Berry, WHY? (PS: for those of you that followed the Globes… see I didn’t include Lucy Liu in my pattern rant? Her dress was crazy yes, but I didn’t completely hate it. FYI.)

Then. Mayim Bialik (second down), that is the ugly lovechild of an ice-skating outfit and a wedding dress you are wearing. With that all is said.

Also, I mentioned I like mermaid tail dresses? I did not mean yours, Kelly Osbourne.

On the Sheer Front then, I did NOT include Jennifer Lopez’ sheer white lace dress, because although it wasn’t my favorite, I liked it. Louise Roe (last down) though appears to be wearing a curtain over her underwear. No. Just no.

I feel sorry for Lena Dunham (first down), because that is a very unfortunate dress for her figure. *Damns responsible stylist to Hell*

There are no words for how ugly I think Nene Leakes’ dress (last top) is. And then to think that with a few adjustments I might even have loved it for being original. Urgh.

There was more disaster than just this… Think many unexplainable neck-brace-like collars (Please don’t tell me this is a trend!), Nicole Richie matching her eyeshadow to her sky-blue dress while sporting a terrible fake tan, and the unforgettable unhemmed half-sheer polkadot mess Rachel Weisz came up in.  Look it up if you’re curious…

About quantumphysica

My name is QuantumPhysica The Insane, but you can call me QP. I am insane, admitted to a mental hospital in Belgium, and waiting for a decent diagnosis at the moment. Once I was a physics student with goals in life and what more; now I'm simply the patient of Room 93. Ever wondered what life is like in the psychiatric ward? I'll tell you everything you ever wanted to know... I am... particularly twitchy of personality. But I also am genuinely interested in everything. There is nothing that doesn't interest me, really. Everything, from quantum computers to fashion and cars to traveling... I also give advice. On anything. No taboos whatsoever. And I make lists of things...

No!! not you, You are intelligent. I want to read of physics and insanity not fluff and celebrity. 😀

  2. I’m so glad that Girls won in the Golden Globes! Such a great show even if that dress isn’t very good…

I give Ariel Winter a pass because she is, in fact, 13, and it’s really hard to find age appropriate red carpet wear when you are over 10 and under 18.

JLo’s Zuhair Murad dress reminded me of why Zuhair Murad drives me nuts. He’s the one responsible for all those awkward Kristen Stewart outfits that I so vocally complained about. Halle Berry’s dress gave her a muffin top (unacceptable, Versace), and Louise Roe’s “dress” is not only ugly and unflattering, it’s also old.

I also really liked Lucy Liu’s dress. I’m a sucker for a big, ridiculous, risk-taking dress.

    • Well… I estimated Ariel Winter a little older… Yet still, I wouldn’t have thought of wearing pastel prints AND a pouffy short dress when 13. Somewhere a stylist deserves a hit on his face. But yeah, age-appropriate clothes are hard to find.

I kind of liked the Zuhair Murad dress… JLo had the curves for it, and it was about as good as anything sheer white lace without lining could ever get, which is -given the possibility of disaster- quite an achievement.

And YES! I was like WHYYY when they put Lucy Liu on a worst dressed list, that dress was really flattering in all it’s quirky weirdness 😀
