Telephones at The Madhouse

QP Phone Home...

So I strolled through the hospital today, armed with nothing but a computer… Sufficiently dazed by my newest medication not to care about anything, I got the strange idea of photographing all the telephones I ran into. Depicted here we see… 2 white phones from my department, one white phone from the elevator on our department, one coin phone from the vending machine room at the cafeteria, and one broken white phone from the elevator at Occupational Therapy.

Yes. I am weird. Insanity, remember?

About quantumphysica

My name is QuantumPhysica The Insane, but you can call me QP. I am insane, admitted to a mental hospital in Belgium, and waiting for a decent diagnosis at the moment. Once I was a physics student with goals in life and what more; now I'm simply the patient of Room 93. Ever wondered what life is like in the psychiatric ward? I'll tell you everything you ever wanted to know... I am... particularly twitchy of personality. But I also am genuinely interested in everything. There is nothing that doesn't interest me, really. Everything, from quantum computers to fashion and cars to traveling... I also give advice. On anything. No taboos whatsoever. And I make lists of things...

I think it’s a great idea/concept, QP! Can we send you on a quest?
Like…. Find a rotary dial phone and take a pic of it?

    • Think that’s going to be a though one *giggle*
      Even here I haven’t seen rotary dial telephones… =P
      But I can try… I can try…

        Or variations:

. Picture of a black phone
. Picture of a mickey mouse phone
        . Most unusual phone
        . Cleanest/dirtiest phone

Whatever can make it fun for you…

      • That would be doable… *giggle*
I don’t think I’ll have to look very long for the dirtiest phone… xD

  2. So neat, and yay that you’re shooting! Is this one that you want to submit? If so, e-mail this and any others you think might work to me with a little blurb about you, and the photos.

On a personal note, I don’t think this seems insane at all (but I’m not one to talk). Especially when in the hospital, phones are a visible link to the outside world. Sometimes they made me feel more “normal” and connected, but more often they were a reminder that I was not “normal” and made me feel even more crazy.
    D. (aka tms)

    • Yeah, you have a point. Somehow I felt connected by the phones, although they indeed did remind me of the fact I’m in a madhouse…
They are all around here, and somehow they always happened to be the first thing in the room I caught myself staring at…

I will email you this photograph, and a few others. The quality isn’t great (made with my computer webcam) but they have meaning… *hug*
